After a long time, I finally was able to get my XP pro configured machine, and my 98se configured machine to communicate with eachother and trade files. Both ipx/spx and tcp/ip are installed, so I am unsure of the protocol used. Here is the issue though. In 98se, to share a folder, you install file and printer sharing in network properties, and then right click on any folder (after reboot) and choose the sharing option in the menu. On that tab, there is a place to enter a password to protect the folder.
However, in XP pro, this is not so. I have both enabled and disabled that "simple file sharing" feature. As far as i have done, I drag folders into the "shared files and folders" - this shares them with the 98se machine. But how in the hell do I password protect the shared folders? Please, I appreciate any assistance, and please be very specific if you have a solution. Thanks!
