I used to employ AltaVista all the time as recently as three years ago, then the number of relevant links dropped off and I began using Google more frequently. At the time it was still fairly small but usually the first few links on any page were not only relevant, they were helpful.

I finally made a complete switch-over, including the startup page on all of my browsers, and have never looked back.
