The original American colonies where established by religious groups like the
Quakers and Puritans. If you didn't belong to that group you weren't aloud to live
amongst them. In time the polarization of the religious groups faded but the writers of
the Constitution wanted to make sure it couldn't occur again.

What I meant by "exploited by the left to separate Americans from their Heritage" is
that the left is doing everything possible to disassociate the Constitution from its
Christian foundation. No, I'm not trying to suggest that Christianity is, or should be,
the official religion of American but the basic laws of this country are based on
Christian ideals. If you accept that as truth then the idea that the Constitution is a
"Living Document" ( some call it an Organic Document ) that changes its
interpretation with the times is "Bull Shit". Which would also mean that the definition
of the word "is" is, is.
