Row & collums are easy to understand think of a keypad like on a phone the # 's 1 thru 9
1 row would be 1, 2, 3 another row would be 4, 5, 6 the last row would be 7, 8, 9.
A collum would be 1, 4, 7 another collum would be 2, 5, 6 the last collum would be 3, 6, 9.

Now lets say that each # (1-9) is a byte = nine bytes, with a total of 6 wires = 3 wires for the rows & 3 wires for the collums you can pick anyone of the nine bytes you want to read, by selecting the correct row wire & then selecting the correct collum wire they chris cross over
the # of the byte you want to read or write.

This is a break down (very basic) & yes& it is really more more complex then this as the ram packages have very few pins & # 's are sent into the IC & decoded so that thousands of lines (wires) can be picked from to get the correct row & collum, they must be charged & timed & verified.
