Thanks MS, I will give it a read this weekend. Looking at the table of contents, I don't see anything on power management. That is where my main problem lies and it may not be a bios problem like I think it is. First, my monitor won't go into sleep mode, it just gives a blank screen but stays on at full power. This happened before and somehow I fixed it but I don't know how. I'm thinking it is because there are 2 monitors listed when I go into safe mode. It lists my Dell monitor plus the "default monitor". If I delete the default monitor it just reinstalls it upon reboot. It could also be a driver issue since I try every new nvidia driver that comes out.

Second problem is my usb phoneline networking device. As long as it is plugged into the usb port I can't turn the computer off. I shut it down and it immediately comes back on. I assume this is some kind of feature for networks but I don't like it. I don't like having to unplug my pc everytime I want to turn it off. I have all the power management features turned off in the bios, to the best of my knowledge, and still can't turn it off.
