This doesn't make sense at all. There are no 4 sides on a DIMM. Each chip has four internal banks and, depending on the part, DIMMs can have either 1 or 2 physical banks. A double sided DIMM can have either a single bank or 2 bank configuration, depending on what chips are used.

Depending on how many banks are supported by the chipset, you can fill those up with single or double sided DIMMs.

The i815 chipset supports 6 banks max, the VIA chipsets also 6 but there are BIOS workarounds to enable up to 8 banks.
