I believe Compaq uses a unique BIOS. Thought on some of them it was a partition on the HDD.Check their restore disk and see just what's on it. Not that that's all that helpful,(Did help me tho on a PB machine) but it may give you a clue what your up against. THe one I have tho uses a Gigabyte 5SSM Mainboard. Might try ID'ing the mainboard and see if you can figure it out from there.Trust me Compaq is no help there at all.

I haven't quite had the courage to fire this one of mine up yet.......figuring I will hit just about the same thing your up against when I do.

Had a HP pull the same thing with the quick restore. Hahahaha...fat chance. The Cd-ROM locked up cold.So there ya sat...with NADA happening.
