I have a Sony Supressa 10X on my husband's Computer as Primary Slave to a Maxtor HD. I have a Pioneer 10X DVD as Secondary Master on that machine. But I am going to add another HD and that will put the DVD as Secondary Slave. I did notice one oddity when we load up Jane's USAF which requires a CD to play. If I put the CD in the Pioneer DVD, the game doesn't see the CD in order to play. It'll go through the startup stuff and then when you get ready to load it says install Disk 1. If I take the disk out and put it in the Supressa it'll play. I figured it was because I installed the game before I acquired the
Sony CD-RW and it's looking for the game CD on the original drive letter, however your problem has me wondering if DVD's will play or not. Haven't tried one or tried to copy anything from the DVD to the HD either. May have to go check this out. I don't have this problem with my machine with a CD-ROM and CD-RW in it. Either drive works and the CD-ROM is Slaved to the CD-RW.
But I only have 1 HDD on this machine, a Maxtor
30.7 gig. I have a zip slaved to it, but the Primary Slave is disabled in BIOS and the Maxtor can't see the drive. That also puts the ZIP drive letter where I want it. However DVD's are not always happy campers slaved to burners. So I tired to avoid this when I put the drives in Sonny's machine. Maybe reversing the order would be better? Slaving the Supressa to the Maxtor and the DVD to the WD? Just a thought.
