moment of anguish after flashing the bios version 1009 for CUSL2 when I had a blank screen.

However it seems like this was due to the extra graphics card (it also has on board) and the monitor lead was still plugged into the onboard while the mobo had detected the additional AGP card and refused to use the onboard.

Just one of those little quirks. The old BIOS required manual disabling of the onboard VGA but the new one doesn't. Unplug the AGP and it works fine or plug the monitor into the AGP and you get a picture, but leave the lead on the wrong port and you get nada. Simple really.
