strange sound card problem.......

I had a crash about a week ago (from logitech mouseware no less) that hosed my system, so I had to format and reinstall win2000. Ever since, I have had this strange sound card problem.....About 90% of the time, the sound comes out really strange. Video clips with sound have to have the volume way up and the sounds is listenable, but "electronically" garbled.

But playing mp3's takes the cake....I can hear the music, but I can't hear the lyrics!!

The sound card is an older ISA turtle beach malibu, and it's worked great up until now. It doesn't show up in device manager, but I have tried uninstalling all of the stuff that's related to it, with no change.

Anybody run into this before?
