I assume you have the 80 wire cable (40 is ground for cleaner signals) with 40 pin connecter with one blocked. With 40 wires the fix is also the same.
Do not force the connector onto the pins as that way will more then likely break something else.

You do not need the 40th pin in any case & you can break the pins off with a good small needle nose pliers but this is not the best method. The best way is to drill a tiny hole into the blocked
hole but do not drill to far as it is not plastic all the way thru (just the top) & do not drill into the cable which would be very bad. The best is to use a drill with speed control & go very slow.
