From what I know, the SORB is one noisy and ineffective cooler. And yes, it doesn't like small cases as the SORB is very big. But on the other hand you could just cut a hole over the sorb and ( if necessary ) do a small duct to the sorb that it sucks in the air by itself.

The VolcanoII is a rather good cooler. I think, MS has/had one and he liked it.

The #1 priority is to have a good airflow in the whole case. In an ATX case, this is pretty simple: intake ( if any ) on lower front and out trough the powersupply. Also, the PS is, usually, located over the CPU and blows out parts of the hot air from the cpu.
But since you want to use a desktop case, you'll have to look at the case and see where to place your fans.

My current situation is as follows:
A watercooling rig. And I've 4 fans in the case. 1 on the vid card and chipset and one in the ps, which blows air out. Another one is streight on top of the ps, on the radiator, which cools the hot water and blows out as well. I might close a few holes on the case, to canalize the air a little more around the hard drives. I'll post a few pics later this week..

*now back on to parctising for my last final test on Tue*
