When my car got broken into, I had built the subwoofer enclosure myself (it was damn nice too). So I went to the local car audio place, described the enclosure to them, and got a quote for them to build me the same thing, complete with the driver. Took the money I got for it, bought the parts, and built myself another BETTER enclosure, and made about $200 on the deal. The deck was replaced with equivalent model from current product line, which also worked out nicely. That was State Farm, so I guess I paid for it anyway My deductable paid for the broken window.

This just demonstrates my point: time is money. If you have a nice stereo system that you built the enclosures for and installed everything yourself, get a replacement quote for the cost of having a PROFESSIONAL do the same work. There is definitely a difference.

So back to my original post, how does one do the same with homebuilt PC's? Just go to a shop and ask them what a similar system would cost? I guess I just answered my own question.
