Two more things other than what Joe F mentioned --

(1) "Micron" RAM can also get you junk parts that have sub-par Micron chips and a crap PCB. Specifying Crucial (Micron house brand) or Mushkin will get you the good stuff. Corsair AFAIK is also decent (Micron-based I think). If Newegg for some odd reason can hook you up with everything BUT, hey -- 256MB of CL2 PC-133 is going for just sixty-eight bucks, direct online ordering from Crucial.com.

(2) Define "budget gaming machine". I play HalfLife on an 800MHz Tbird with a GeForce MX @ 200/200. I average about 70FPS during a good online game of Counterstrike, and if I do a timerefresh I get typical results of 110-140FPS. Serious Sam plays silky smooth. The requirements for games like Diablo II are even lower. On the other hand, MBTR is just a shade choppy and my 3DMark2001 scores could be better. Whether you should shell out extra $$ for the GF2 GTS will depend on the types of games these things are destined for.

Happy purchasing
