Even more raid questions????

Is there a good sight with raid info? This thing has got me baffled... I was under the impression that Raid 0 used 2 disks giving u the ability to use the lowest size disk for your total space? I have (2) 30 gigers in a raid 0 and windows shows it as 59gigs? Not only that i was expecting some decent performance... .call me crazy but i havent noticed any... tried to run Sisoft utility to see what it was doing and it wont test umm at all... just keeps failing to respond... This is the first time ive actually switched to A VIA chipset... and damn its buggy....
