according to Clone CD, the Toshiba DVD rom is capable of reading anything.Unless it's changed the Pioneer cannot. Also the Toshiba CD-Rom's can read most anything. I find that this is true when I am copying proteced CD's. My 48X Toshiba CD-ROM is what I use to read the CD's, the Plextor does the burn. Clone has a list of Cd-ROM and DVD's that are compatible readers. Check it out at their site.
I have several CD-ROM's around here and I find the best reader I have is my Toshiba, better than the Asus 50X and way better than Memorex.
