I have been experimenting with my MS Optical which was skipping badly and was surprised to find that somehow it seems to be a software glitch with the optical intellimouse drivers.
When you decrease the mouse sensitivity "pointer speed" below a certain level the skipping stops. This may be because the pointer movement is being "wrapped" from one side of the page to the other side I am not sure, or it may be because the calculation used to magnify the movement becomes innaccurate at a certain magnitude.
But anyway reducing the sensitivity (not the acceleration) stops the problem no matter how fast I move the mouse. This means the mouse data rate is not faulty and it means the software interpretation of the data is faulty.
What's the best way to tell MS about this, they are so well insulated against feedback, I run in circles every time I try to tell them something.
