Manufactured CDs use a foil layer, so presumably the data would last the life of the laquer coating. (I would imagine that CDs stored in a hot car glovebox or CD-changer would have a much shorter life.)

CD-Rs, on the other hand, are dye-based, and I thought I heard something like 10-20 years...
