First, the KK266 is an SDRAM board, so you will have less trouble trying to insert standard SDRAM into the DIMM slots than DDR which doesn't have the voltage key. Otherwise, it is a nice system. As for the monitor I would recommend you check the eacer.com website for the top deals, the SL99 is one of the best 19" tubes around and you can get the 21" for some $450 if necessary.
Regarding the keyboard, I would wait another two weeks for the Lite-On wireless keyboard / mouse combo selling for some $39 total.

in terms of memory, I would recommend the Mushkin Rev.2 256 MB because those are stable up to 160 MHz at 2:2:2.

for network cards, there are good ones and not so good ones, if you can get the (discontinued) SMC 9332 Etherpower (about $10 more) you will have the best NIC ever made.

With the graphics card, the Radeon is clearly the best choice but you may be just as happy with the 32 MB version, unless you plan on running everything at 1900 x 1600 resolution. The 32 MB DDR version sells for some $130 now and you can hardly beat that.

All in all that should cut your price back by some $600-800 and get you better quality.

As for the P4 being faster in video compressing, that is true but the difference is based mostly on a higher clockspeed, that is, clock by clock, I am getting almost identical numbers for the TBird and the P4 (and you don't have to carry 2 pounds of copper heatsinks with you, not to mention the electric bill multiplied by the Gelsinger coefficient)
