I've been working towards producing a miniDVD format 5hr AC3-5.1 channel encoded CD to play in my SetopBox Sampo/Omni DVD player. Can and has been done before. You can even put your own stills as background to the music...ergo slide show or whatever.
If you interested let me know. But you need a Setop with AC3-5.1 output or a digital reciever - surround sound setup to hear the 6 channels.
That is if that is to what you are refering.
Of course Dolby Digital comes in various guises upto and including 6.1 (7channel theatre sound) but this is not yet being encoded on DVD's yet. The 7th channel is a pair of encoded side channels which have the stereophonic separation code within the entire 7 channel so you get left and right from the one channel.
Of course if you just want the "better quality" of Dolby Digital 2/0 or stereo on a CD this you can do the same way as my miniDVD with 5.1.
Get Sonic DVDit in this case as it allows miniDVD production with DD 2/0 but not 3/2 (5.1). You need DVDWise of DVQuickbuilder\Motion Pro for 5.1 stuff.
Wow...what a rave - amazes me what i've pcked up in the last coupl'a months....
Might be able to repay some of your wonderfull advice morsels....;>)
