MS could not get the OS running stably for any extended period on his HOT603-based system. I remember some others around here noting that no matter how carefully they installed everything, drivers would corrupt and the system would metaphorically fall apart in something like 10 days.

I temporarily installed WinMe on my Super7 box and results were mixed, it worked and didn't blow up in two weeks but the system in general was pretty flaky. Dial-up networking never did behave properly, and sometimes the system would be hard-locked, or else fail to reboot properly, after a week of doing nothing but RC5 crunching. This was with hibernation diabled.

Both systems use recent-make, popular components and I have run Win95 and WinNT4 on both boxes -- so I think I can fairly state that the Super7 is more stable than what WinMe would give it credit for.

Idiot users have always existed and I don't think they're necessarily giving WinMe any more of a bad rap than any other OS -- rather, WinMe likes some hardware combinations and hates others, with no middle ground

Glad your experience was positive...like I said so's mine but I still wouldn't recommend the OS to someone else.

Especially since the consumer release of Whistler is around the corner and I'm hedging my guesses that when it does, Microsoft will bury everything else as soon as possible. Especially WinMe, since it will have been out the least amount of time.

..........

Oops, guess I should footnote all of that -- "My own opinion only"
