In addition to the Plextor-branded drive, the TDK and Iomega 12x10x32x CDRW drives also use the Plextor mechanism. I bought the TDK because it includes Nero 5, and I like Nero a lot more than Adaptec. The Plextor mechanism has BURN-Proof, so you can use your system while burning a disc.

AOpen has a technology called JustLink, which is similar to BURN-Proof. I haven't heard much about the drives using it, though.
