I have seen this both ways on my system. I have an Athlon700mhz with the Voodoo5 and I have seen this in both forms I think it depends on whether you do the maximum install or the default install I played mechwarrior3 then I would uninstall it then I would put it back on to play and this was giving me this effect.
I do not think it matters one way or another which it does. It might also be what patch you have installed.
