Many people use PCs as home theatres. Check out the site and you'll see some specialized motherboards and sound cards for home theatre. Maybe it'll give you some ideas.
I remember seeing something on TechTV about a wireless gadget for sending music from your computer to a remote set of speakers but I can't remember what it's called (besides, I think they said it sucked). Dell is offering something similar but it uses a phone line (HomePNA networking).
I have a TV but it's pretty pathetic (ancient 21"). I don't think I've turned it on once in the past year because I use my computer for everything. My machine has a 19" monitor, Hauppage TV tuner card, Toshiba DVD drive, GeForce2 GTS, PowerDVD software, and a Klipsch 4.1 speaker system. I think it's a pretty sweet setup. It's mainly my gaming/entertainment machine. I keep my work... at work
