Your first limiting factor is the graphics chip, and on the K6-2 machine, your second limiting factor is the processor's somewhat slow floating-point performance.

Graphics performance is in most cases not a direct function of the amount of on-board memory. Put a Voodoo3 or TNT2 Ultra in that K6-2 machine and you will notice a fair amount of difference.
