Reason, I had a number of files (simpsons video clips, miscellaneous downloads, etc.) that I couldn't easily back up elsewhere. If I used format I would have lost all of them.

Only problem with the deltree approach is that, even with a defrag, your windows & program files aren't arranged very efficiently afterwards.
