1. Try the HD in another computer.
2. Gently, but firmly, hit/thump the side of the HD, this will release the heads if they are stuck to the platters. (This happened to me last week on a 7200rpm HD thats only 6 months old).
3. If you can break the heads loose, back up all data then call IBM for an RMA number. Get a replacement HD, yours is history....
