if you have more than 1 partition on your hard drive, back up all files you dont want to lose
to a partition other than C: or zip disks etc.
put your winME disk in cd-rom drive

boot with a win98 rescue disk. (make sure it has
format.com on it)
choose "start computer with cd-rom support"
take note of the drive letter assigned to your cd-rom drive
at the A:\> prompt type "format c: /u" (without the quotes"

when that finishes doin it's thing and you are back to the A:\> prompt, type "e:win9x\setup"
(without the quotes) "e" being whatever the letter
assigned to you cd-rom drive by dos that you took note of. could be a different letter depending on how many partitions are on your hard drive.

if you are using an upgrade or stepup ME disk keep your 95 or 98 cd handy (upgrade) or 98 cd (stepup)

when ME setup asks for conformation of previous version, take out the ME cd and put in the 95 or 98 cd. then browse to cd-rom drive and hit enter.

then put your ME cd back in and finish the install.

1 warning!! the ie5.5 version on the ME cd is a beta. as soon as you get on the internet upgrade to ie5.5sp1. then go back to m$ and install the update to that.

i usually copy the cab files to the hard drive and install from there. if you want to do that,
post back here and i or someone else will explain it.

good luck
