I guess some of my friends should read your comments - a few of them have just bought AMD systems.
I don't know where you are on the world, my friend, but here are some suggestions for websites to look at. I hope they help you:
www.pcindex.co.uk - great site if you are in the UK because it links to all the cheapest suppliers
www.overclockers.com - these guys are based all over the world and they have good advice and even better prices
www.planethardware.com - Loads of advice and reviews
As for the motherboard, take a look at the Asus CUSL2 board. There's a review of it at planethardware.com and they can't praise it enough.
