I was checking out the latest eWeek magazine, and there was an article about Microsoft upset over the poor sales of Windows 2000. Seems They are planning to do away with volume licence pricing for Windows 95, 98 and even Millennium. Their idea is two-fold: volume sales of ME (95/98?) will increase before the june kill-date, and after june, volume customers will be forced to 2000 Professional.

BUT WAIT, IT GETS BETTER....

In that same issue of eWeek, there is a Microsoft advertisement for Windows 2000 Professional. And this is a good one. It is a two page spread with a huge picture of a Windows 95 BSOD with a caption that reads "IF YOU FIND YOURSELF MISSING THE DOWNTIME, CUT OUT AND TAPE TO MONITOR." Yes, they are putting down their own product to boost their latest OS. But it gets even better- if taking a stab at Windows 95 isn't enough, they go on to say "NSTL test results show that Windows 2000 Professional is 13 times more reliable than Windows 98."

Now, maybe it is just me, but don't this sound like Microsoft is REALLY trying to say "Our new OS is great, even though 3 years ago, we sucked."

This is just too funny.
