On the other hand, given that the K6-III is set up correctly, there is hardly any difference in performance with a PII 450 except for CAD applications. Even in gaming apps, the difference in frame rates at low resolutions is in the order of less than 10% and at higher resolutions, it is negligible. That is, provided that an appropriate video card is used that can take advantage of the write combine buffers for both the data transfer and the hardware acceleration.
