I determined what the problem was ... It seems there was an incompatibility between the most current Hollywood+ drivers (v1.8.2) and the newest VIA 4-in-1 chipset drivers (v4.25a), as this problem started after I installed the new drivers. I did a reinstall of Windows98 with the VIA version 4.24 4-in-1 drivers and the v1.8.2 Hollywood+ drivers and I can now play DVD's again ... Still may look into getting the Radeon though. It might be a good thing to free up that PCI slot. |
