How do I join the CPU-Central RC5 team?
- Register Yourself
- Download the
appropriate client software here.
- Install the client.
- Configure
- When you start it (dnetc.exe), you should get a configuration screen. If not, right click the window and select
Configure.
- Under General Client Options, change your email address (option
1). Go back to the main menu.
- Hit Save Settings and Exit.
- The client will now attempt to get some blocks. You can change the number of blocks using Buffer and Buffer Update Options. Selections 12 and 13 will let you choose either the number of blocks (12) or the amount of time (13).
- (Optional - Fetch and Flush)
- After letting it crunch for awhile, right click the window, and select Flush Work to send your completed blocks to the server. You can also fetch some new blocks if you'd like.
The distributed.net server updates starting at 6:00pm Central Time. Try to send some blocks before then.
- Wait.....
- The next day (at most 24 hrs after step 2) go back to distributed.net and do a user search for your email address (click
the link at the top of the CPU Central WWWboard
page, then look at the top of the distributed.net page to find the search form).
- Enter your email address in the search form.
- When you find yourself, click your name, scroll down your page and then click the link that says
something to the effect of "I've forgotten my password. Email it to me." You'll
receive your password and instructions on how to change your online
config.
- (Optional - Edit your info)
- You may also want to edit your own information. Doing this will allow
you to display your name instead of your e-mail address, and enable you
to insert HTML into your personal stats page (to insert
HTML, simply enter it in the name field when editing your
information).
- If you are using a computer that is not shared b/w others you may also
check the box that says "save user name and password in a
cookie".
- Join!
- Now, go find the
CPU Central team page (top of the WWWBoard page), click it, then
click "I want to join this team." It may ask you for
your username and password.
- Wait....
- Until the next server update. After a maximum of 24 hrs, you'll
officially be a CPU Central RC5 team member!!
